you guys are crazy if you think LLL will release 16 discs of xfiles music!

look, I AM AS BIG A FAN OF X as anybody - I own the complete seasons 1-4, FIGHT THE FUTURE,
on video
THE SNOW FILES, FIGHT THE FUTURE on cd
and of course the new 4 disc box.
but....
there is now way i am going to spend $200 on music for the tv series (and neither are most fans)
there is lots of great music but not that much (this aint MIAMI VICE folks).

the new set is great but even here we get a 12 minute track from "731" that tries ones patience.

Remember, the show has been off the air for years and most fans didn't stay with it after Duchovny left.

But, hey what do I know?
smile

I would most certainly buy all 4 volumes if that were the case... and if I may throw my 2 cents in, I'd simply request more mythology music on Vol 2 big grin

I would definitely buy several volumes as well. Hell, if LLL had charged $100 for volume 1 I still would have had no qualms about picking it up...but that's just me.

I would buy all the volumes too! There is really a lot of good music, especially from season 1 to 5 IMO, and we have only 4 or 5 episodes' score for each season yet, so a LOT is still missing!

I agree with all statements here except for Mr. Marshall's. I would be willing to purchase 3 more volumes provided the price doesn't go any higher than $50, but that's just me. There's alot of good music in my opinion in those mythology episodes that didn't get in the set.

I just finished watching the episode "Salvage" from Season 8. It's a fantastic, melodic score and I hope some cues from it are released on future volumes.

I don't think LALA would have trouble selling 4 volumes. Just because it doesn't sell out day 1 doesn't mean that it isn't sell well. There are plenty of X-Files fans out there who have been waiting for the music for quite some time..

and as awesome as Volume 1 is (and i am extremely thankful we got this much music) it only covers 40 episodes. 40 episodes out of 202 hardly skims the surface. There are plenty of other TV series out there that got multiple volumes/seasons of music released why not X-Files?

Here's my top requests for volume 2:

Deep Throat 1x01
The scene where Mulder jogs around the track and Deep Throat comes and talks to him. It's also used during Mulder's meeting with Deep Throat at the end of Ghost in the Machine 1x06.

Fallen Angel 1x09
Plays during the lead up to (and including) the end of Act 2 when the military chases the invisible alien and when the colonel brings his marines' bodies into the hospital. Similar to (but better than) 'On The Waterfront/Suspended Max' from disc one of the first boxset.

Ascension 2x06
The last scene in the episode, where Mulder stares up into the night sky. (I think it begins in the previous scene).

3 2x07
The motif that runs through the episode, most notably in the teaser and when the Kristen shaves Mulder. It's available on 'The Truth and the Light' under the title 'Carmen Amatorium Ex Arcanum'.

Colony 2x16
There's some great creepy music in the scene where Scully explores the warehouse full of alien fetuses.

Soft Light 2x23
The motif used prominently throughout the episode, most notably in the teaser and when the protagonist is staring at his shadow in the train station. It's available on 'The Truth and the Light' under the title 'Mitis Lumen'.

Paper Clip 3x02
The theme used during the teaser over the birth of the white buffalo.
Also, there's a great cue when Mulder and Scully arrive at the Strugghold Mining Company building, with some deep bass.

2Shy 3x06
There's an interesting theme used during several parts of the episode (sorry, don't recall which at the moment).

Grotesque 3x14
Mulder's chasing through the warehouse.
Scully finding the knife blade under the car.
Scully finding Mulder's drawings of the demon in his apartment.
There's lots of great cues from this episode.

Apocrypha 3x16
The second last scene where Scully attends Melissa's grave. Beautiful.

Pusher 3x17
The last scene where Mulder and Scully talk by Modell's bedside.

Wetwired 3x23
The motif running throughout the episode. Present in the teaser, when Mulder goes to identify Scully's body, and at the end with CSM and X.

Tempus Fugit 4x17
The car chase on the runway. I think it's also used in Herrenvolk.

Synchrony 4x19
The motif that runs throughout the episode.

Redux II 5x03
The scene with Mulder crying beside Scully's bedside.

There's lots more. I'll try to add some more at a later date.

I do love the track of the boxset! I've really forgotten the great score of this episode and hoping for more cues of it :-)

Here's the first part of my request list.
- The tracks in capital letters are must-haves! (Tracks in brackets are nice but not essential.)
- Tracks are listed in order of preference. (Episodes are listed randomly, except the first two - DRIVE and TRIANGLE contain my favourite music - and they're back-to-back episodes! Guess Mark Snow was in good form in that period.)

DRIVE
- FINALE (5min30)
- GAS STATION SCENE (1min30)
- EPISODE MOTIF: Opening scene with Mulder & Scully in Southern Idaho (0min45)
I think it’s necessary to include this, as the pay-off of the episode theme would then be bigger in the Finale. The horn ending is nice too. You could also include the following cue instead:
- Episode motif: Kersh calls Scully – I think this one ends after Scully has a breakthrough idea and we go back to Mulder and Crump (2min)
- Prologue (1min50)

TRIANGLE
- BETRAYED / TO JAMAICA / MULDER IS TAKEN TO THE BALLROOM (3min)
The cue that starts when the traitor tells the Germans about Thors Hammer; it goes on scoring the scene in which Kersh wants to go to Jamaica; and concludes with the strong climax and final statement of the 'quest' motif when Mulder is transported back; the cue ends when he's thrown into the ballroom. This final statement of this theme is the best and the most dramatic of the whole episode. This cue runs for about 3 minutes.
- PROLOGUE
- Ballroom Sequence (Hot Liquorice)
- Final Hospital Scene – piano (1min)

FIELD TRIP
- MULDER ARRIVES IN THE FIELD (0min55) (or: Mulder in the Field/Chasing Wallace Schiff (1min30))
- Final cue: Mulder & Scully are found (1min50)

GETHSEMANE
- FIRST TREK: Opening after main titles – 1st Trek theme statement (2min30)
(- Mulder Arrives at Camp / Trek 2 (1min45))
(- Scully Confronts Kritschgau in Parking Garage (2min15))

DEEP THROAT
- DRIVE FROM CAFÉ TO AIRBASE FENCE (piano motif) (1min) (or: Drive from Café to Fence/Car Window Blown Out 1min30). Or: The exact same piano motif is also heard later on when Mulder is trespassing on the Airbase’s grounds.
(- Opening Shot of Washington DC (0min30))

THE PINE BLUFF VARIANT
- SCULLY SEARCHES FOR MULDER’S BANK ROBBERY / MULDER’S EXECUTION 3min50
Everybody asks for the prologue music, but this one actually contains the same thematic material but is way better!
- Prologue 4min20

731
- Mulder Atop the Train 0min40 (cue directly following the main title)

PILOT
- MOSQUITO BITES 2min
- Peggy Is Dead / Fire 1min40
- Billy’s Hypnosis 1min30

PIPER MARU
- PROLOGUE 4min20
(- Kallenchuk Stakeout 1min15 (or: Mulder Meets Geraldine / Kallenchuk Stakeout 2min45))

APOCRYPHA
- Car Rental Papers / North Dakota Finale 6min50
- Melissa’s Grave 1min30
- Ending: Krycek Locked Up 1min

EBE
- FOLLOWING THE TRUCK 2min35
- Finale: Inside the Power Plant / Chase 2min20
- Shaking the Government’s Tails 2min40
(- Ending: Alien Is Gone / Deep Throat Leaves 1min20)

DARKNESS FALLS
- NIGHT TO DAY / MULDER LETS SPINNEY GO 2min10
(- Rescue Arrives / In the Hospital Centre 1min35)

Episodes that LLL had opted for selection a year ago that did not make it to Volume One, for which I have no (or almost none) cues listed/identified:
http://www.eatthecorn.com/dossiers/mmc.htm

(...)
1X15: Young at Heart [anything else apart from the Omen-esque choir?]
(...)

If you have an idea about what specific music is meant, or additional suggestions, do share with the group!

YES! Young at Heart, from 41:16 to 43:11: John Barnett shoots Scully at black point range and the music just explodes in a propulsive sequence of snare and percussion while Mulder chases and confronts Barnett. The second half of the cue features some more nice choir work, but the first part has been on my wish list ever since watching the episode. Great stuff.
