Some are fans of particular eras, genres, composers or scores. Yet the glue that ties our little community together is our shared passion for film music.
What a blessing it is that we have a common space for our niche community to come together and share our wide range of thoughts, news, music, opinions and experiences with fellow enthusiasts from around the globe.

I will say however that your own posts would come across more personally if each individual making up "sheetmusicman" had their own account or at least signed their own names under the "sheetmusicman" account. It's a bit strange and impersonal to have multiple people anonymously using the same account, IMO, which is why some people might have less hesitation in posting harsh comments about the performances... Also, since I knew Richard Kraft a little bit in real life when I lived in L.A. it'd be particularly cool to know when I'm talking to him (is that you?)
Anyway, I think you (guys) have been adding a lot to the board lately and even though I don't think much of some of the posted videos others I like very much indeed and this was all sort of just a fun experiment anyway...

P.S. THAT said I'd like to address Mike Farrell directly and express my commitment to buy the album if he ever decides to fill a commercial disc with polished performances of all the Goldsmith piano selections. The quality of performance he's regularly able to achieve on tricky stuff like that Explorers suite with NO rehearsal at all is so impressive that my mouth salivates at what he could do if he spent some time concentrating on fewer pieces...maybe if he does any transcription work he could even pick a few other themes to feature that never got sheet music!

You missed my point, which was that we don't know which one of you we're interacting with at any given time, which is a bit disorienting/off-putting. Example: the person I reply to is not necessarily the person replying to me. Of course I might be the only person feeling that way...

This might be a opportunity for us to remember that presenting kindness is a good practice for all occasions. No one ever regrets the moments they were thoughtful.

Well to be exact it is in your profile (which many people don't bother to click on) and in a very few of your posts. But since as you point out you aren't exactly anonymous, what is the point of the individuals who make up "sheetmusicman" not putting their names on the bottom? Does that serve some specific purpose? It isn't exactly common practice on a message board and it's not like "sheetmusicman" is even a company or somesuch -- just a group of people who had fun with some sheet music, right?

I'm not condoning the behavior by any means, but it's like this: someone addressing "sheetmusicman" without knowing who it is (perhaps assuming it's Richard Kraft or his son) might be more negative about a performance than they would be if they knew it was the singer him/herself -- ie. someone is less likely to be rude to one's face. Posting as "sheetmusicman" just makes you a more impersonal figure, even though you may specify the five people the post under the name. It's strange to me but no big deal I guess if you want to stick with it. That was just my personal feedback and some speculation on how a different approach *might* decrease the negativity to some extent.

Seems to me that's all you need to know. Doesn't matter if you're talking to someone in the flesh or an anonymous person (or persons) on the internet. There's really just one thing to remember: 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

I love your posts and yes, I would buy a solo piano album with The Sheet Music Project in a heartbeat. Don't mind the criticism. Please carry on! I'll take the opportunity to thank you all for all the trouble for making them in the first place! Thumbs way up!! I'm sure the majority of this board enjoys those great videos! Keep up the great work!

I've really had it with these one-word threads that are proliferating the boards!!! It has given me a migraine. What's next? Happiness? Humility? Fortuosity? I gotta tell you.

“Sheetmusicman” Group, you have my encouragement.
At times I scan your titles and what piques my curiosity I listen to. Then it's either noted (if liked) and if not, just move on. I've not the time to hear everything, but good that it's all there to cherry pick.
Yes, there's no “movie” orchestra, backing and are just raw performances of singer(s) and Mike Farrell's skilled piano. But you all do the job competently, with heart, and some videos show it can be a fun listen with you young folk.
I've patronized “piano bars,” cabarets and jazz clubs showcasing piano and singer. At various times I've heard such singers as Marni Nixon and Sylvia Syms, upon request step up from out of the audience to give an impromptu performance.
The exposure of an obscure or forgotten song is more than just a passing novelty. The discovery can be refreshing after hearing some “standards” done too many times over. What the heck, why not?!
I also like the display of the Music Sheet booklet covers as a reminder of the movie itself. I visited the now defunct 'Colony Records' (1948-2012) at 49 st. & Broadway a few blocks north of Times Square.
An online NY Daily News article stated: “The store at 1619 Broadway had served as a central meeting place for lovers of sheet music, vinyl, theatrical songs and all forms of music memorabilia for 64 years."
