Because in terms of Hollywood superhero films, it has not been done before. It's usually either been trite orchestral conventions or trite RC conventions.

What does RC stand for?

To follow this “music” is difficult; to remember it, impossible.

I take it then you would be unable to provide a chronological track list derived from the current album?

Surely you recognise probably the most famous (infamous) piece of music criticism in history - Stalin’s arm’s length piece in Pravda condemning Shostakovich’s opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk... “Chaos instead of music”.

Joker’s score is absolutely spot on for the film in my opinion. And I’ve seen it in situ, and am therefore entitled to one!

I haven't seen it myself but my mate who saw the film and isn't into soundtracks at all said he noticed it and thought it fit the film well. I've been enjoying it out of the film.

I can’t comment on her recent scores, not having yet seen the films/programmes to which they’re attached, but I agree completely with your assessment of Joker, except you put it so much better than I did.

Sorry, old boy, but that probably means some members won’t bother to read your review, assuming they won’t like it smile

Mrs TG has been listening to it on Spotify, which for a film score is almost an Earth-shattering development. And I’ll fight anyone who questions her taste in anything.

We started to watch it one evening on Netflix and two minutes in the signal went. I think subliminally we took it as an omen! Weve said a couple of times since that we have to get it watched, and I'm sure we will. I can't wait to see why some members seem to think it should have a light and breezy score, perhaps with a song 'n' dance interlude.

Because there's nothing.more fun than a nuclear meltdown!

It's a superb show. Didn't even need a score except for the ' emotionsl' scenes& where the.music was perfect!

Saw it last night and was engaged throughout. Never a dull moment. Pheonix was incredible, and there were a number of shock moments that worked very well.

I thought the music was memorable as part of the film, there was a recurring motif and it fitted it like a glove. I won't be buying it 'cause I'd never listen to it, but I always say we're lucky when a score is listenable away from the film because it's first job is to serve that film, which it does. A slightly depressing score for a fairly depressing movie. And that's not an insult! It's the story that was being told. I enjoyed Chernobyl too, and barely noticed the music, but again another serious drama where the music did suit.

The more depressing thought I'm afraid, and I'm surprised this hasn't been touched on at all by the Brits on here, is the idea that convicted paedophile ex UK pop star Gary Glitter will gain financially from the use of his hit Rock and Roll Part 2. The moment when Joker is dancing down the steps is there because apparently it has been used for years at US sports events. Don't get me wrong. The music fits the moment, and I was once a fan attending two of his annual Christmas concerts, until the revelations came flooding out for all to be disgusted by.

Just a little surprised that the makers didn't get this fact flagged up before they decided to use it. At least I hope they didn't know. Sorry if this is more suited to 'the other side' of the forum, but it is part of the music and thought it should be noted.

Nothing I'd want to listen to on CD, but I must admit the score definitely got under my skin and was HIGHLY effective in the film, perfectly balanced against the well-chosen selection of songs.

It was reported in some of the press in the UK. I think there have been some negative reactions.
