OK, this is the scene I was talking about yesterday, considering the orchestral version of the Polynesian song. Music starts at about 0'30:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfET8AaV9W0

I still don't know, though, if it is on the new CD. It would be nice if someone from LaLaLand could confirm it.

Well if it aint we will always have theYT download of the SCORE. AS HEARD IN THE FILM

Don't worry, this cue is on this release, on the second disc and it's called "Witt Travels". There is also a sample of this cue on the LaLaLand site: https://lalalandrecords.com/thin-red-line-the/

The version of the tune that a lot of people are hoping for is different than its represenation in "Witt Travels" - although as mentioned above people are looking for that one as well. The other version (or at least one other version) asked about is this one:

I think this version is also on the first CD called "Witt With Melanesians"

Think or Know?

Here's my video of it wink

Thanks for posting that, Acathla. I really am happy that you enjoyed the concert. I'm sure I would have too! And I've never heard a live version (or any other version) of "Journey to the Line" ... I'm surprised to find myself saying this, but tbh I really don't like that version of the cue! Yikes. The solo string instrument early on (violin? erhu?) turned me off, but when that drum beat kicked in I couldn't stand it any longer. "Journey to the Line" is one of my favorite pieces ever written by anyone, so maybe I'm protective of its original incarnation or something, but that retooling just didn't land well with me. I'm all for reinterpretations of material or variations, but...not this one! smile

hehe I understand what you mean. This is just a bootleg video though. Actually being there in the arena was much more powerful. At least to me. wink

I checked the movie yesterday: this music definitely must be Witt with Melanesians. I founda short segment from the scene on youtube where you can hear the exact same music :

By the way... since I got the OST I've wondered what's up with that "Christian Race" song that the "Staros theme" is suppose to be based on? I've trying to find that song but never succeeded.

Please let us know about those two tracks I/we have asked about.
LLL is ominously silent.

Thanks

I agree with others, I might have considered this for just the two discs at around $30 but I don't think I will care for the vocals. From the samples the music is too simplistic even if it is more complex than the usual Zimmer work.

Have you ever watched TTRL? If you had, you'd realize that something more "complex" wouldn't be appropriate, and would probably overwhelm the visuals.

The exact arrangement on the Youtube video ("Jisas yu holem hand blong mi") does not appear on the album as far as I can tell. The melody does in "Witt With Melanesians" and "Witt's Death", but they are different arrangements ("Witt's Death" is vastly different).

An orchestral arrangement of "God yu tekkem laef blong mi" shows up a few times, including the "Witt & Welsh Talk" cue, along with "Witt Travels" (the "Jisas yu holem hand blong mi" theme does NOT appear here, contrary to what may have been alluded to above).

Thank you Khan!
LListening to samples...
WItt Travels is the cue i referred to where Witt and Welsh talk in the field. Nature Montage is The Coral Atoll ...
No sample for Witt with Melanesians. I hope it is the film version since you say it isnt the YT Badelt promo which i thought was the film version?
Does it feature the orchestral restatement of the Faure Requiem heard earlier?

Well here I am stuffed with a bitter piece of pie loaded with past judgement of dumb youth. I had 2 goals this weekend, re-watch The Thin Red Line and Apocalypse Now. From my previous comments I had made negative reviews for both films and many suggested that I try to watch them again. I did. Apocalypse Now Redux, I still don't quite get it, too long and just plain strange. Thin Red Line, LOVED it! The music, the scenes, characters, every thing seem to flow nicely for almost a 3 hour film. Maybe it was my young twenty-something attention span that was judging it? And the music is great too. smile
