Wow, they really went out of their way to change the look of the wimpy-looking young woman of the movie.

I checked a video on the game. They actually have two versions of the characters. There's the film version, then a pumped up Zombicide version in keeping with the zombicide games series, which I guess have larger than life characters and pumped up skills and weapons, so there is a reason for it. It looks pretty good fun.

Right, there are two different modes you switch between, Romero mode and Zombicide mode. Romero mode is more reflective of the movie, and the characters are less powerful. Of course, that has its limits. For example, I was playing as Barbara, and unlike her character in the film, I had her barricading the house immediately instead of having a meltdown. Zombicide mode makes the characters far more powerful. The challenge is that there are moments where the characters are forced into Romero mode and the game is balanced assuming everyone is in Zombicide mode, so you have to act fast to avoid being killed. Also, unlike the movie, everyone needs to survive to win. Anyway, a very fun game. And yes, I had plenty of horror film scores playing in the background as we played.

When was that made? I really liked it. Enjoyed the music too.

Thanks, Xebec.

Filmed in 1984, finished 1985, won me top prize on BBC Showreel 86! Music was by Max Reinsch, who was working in TV and radio at the time; Max now teaches music at Southend High School. I snapped this shot of Max and his setup (synth and banjo played live to my very detailed cue sheet) during our recording session, 1985.

Thanks, dogplant. It's a really neat little film. Watched it a couple of times. It has a look most people would kill to replicate these days, with the love of trying to make everything looks 80s.

I liked your camera move from the chess piece going away from the board.

I bought Flamme Rouge and it's great fun and easy to play. Basically, the Tour de France.

I hope all the performance-enhancing drugs you presumably have to take won’t interfere with the vaccine.

I bought myself a two player game called High Treason! The trial of Louis Riel, which is actually set in Saskatchewan and around the real life trial of Louis Riel. You play either the prosecution or the defence at his trial. Gets decent reviews.

I also bought my friend Mysterium Park, which i might get to play over Christmas.

I did see the Night of the Living Dead game at the shop but it was $150, and that's without tax. Crikey.

Speaking of games, I included "Get out of jail" cards with Christmas cards. The orange ones, of course.

We recently received this game:

We played the first scenario, which was pretty easy. We skipped a few missions to play a more challenging mission and lost just one round before we likely would have beaten the scenario. Hope to play it some more this weekend.

Sweet! I remember playing "Last Night on Earth" back in the day. Not sure if this new NOTLD game bears any resemblance, but that was a pretty fun zombie game with quite a bit of replay value.

I long ago made a short film on this subject...

https://vimeo.com/1434050

Queen's Gambit, eat your heart out.

That was really good, not sure how I missed it before. Didn’t know where it was heading.

(We saw Queen’s Gambit, and that was a lot longer.)

I now own

Flamme Rouge
Survive! Escape From Atlantis
The Quest For El Dorado
The King's Dilemma
High Treason! The Trial of Louis Riel

They're all really good, though I'm yet to play King's Dilemma. Just need a less severe lockdown. But I'm very happy with muh buys.

I'm looking at a few I want to buy in the coming year now. This board game stuff is addictive.

I do love seeing the photos of gameplay, L&C and Scorefan, do post more if you get even more good games. And I'm not just jealous you own a table.

From my last solo session of Nemesis^^

I got ECLIPSE: Second Dawn for the Galaxy just before X-Mas. Will post some pics soon. This game is SO big, it just barely fits my (not tiny) table when set up for two players...

Another new acquisition I made is GODZILLA TOKYO CLASH by Funko Games. I haven't played it yet so I won't comment on game play. In the image below, the small, grey wooden houses and the wooden playing pieces are replacement for cardboard counters. They don't come with the game.

Great photos, those look cool. I'll not be able to afford it but I saw this review of second dawn:

I am hoping to get a sci-fi game this year to add to my games at some stage.

I watched a few Eclipse Second Dawn videos that were gushing and it looks brilliant. I'm gutted I'll never play it. The mechanics of the game look very interesting, and it's single player too! Maybe if I win the lottery.

Nemesis does appeal but is so expensive too.

Would you ever try that aliens: colonial marines game that's just come out?
