LLL does not and never will do sequel scores.

You're kidding, right?

Matrix Reloaded
Matrix Revolutions
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Speed 2
Home Alone 2

etc, etc, etc.

But did they do DIE HARD II?

The VERY FIRST THING MV said on this very thread.

1. We chose to do Speed 2 first because it was a score I always wanted, but never got. Speed was an after thought.

And don't forget.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Dear MV.

I want to ask you about "The Robe" composed by Alfred Newman.

I have in my collection La La Land Records release of this score from 2012.

There is isolated score track on dvd and blu ray of "The Robe" and Newman score sounds vastly better than LLL or previous Varese release. Sound is much more better on isolated score track od blu ray and dvd.

It is a chance that this score will be released from better sources with better sound? This score deserved it.

I totally disagree. And no, we wont be reissuing it

Amen

We have a ton of sequels in our catalog, especially if you consider Seasons of tv shows sequels as well.

OK... perhaps if this does well enough there will be a sequel with Young's score as well... in the meantime PET SEMATARY (2019) would do just fine smile

MV, how has TRL been selling? My copy is on the way (and hopefully won't miss my birthday by much, thank you) but there was some comments on the TRL thread regards it's price, just wondering if it had any impact on sales so far. I'd like to think it will be a huge success, it's such a fantastic score and this release quite unexpected.

It obviously had an impact... I know of several people who would be interested if it were just 2 CDs... all of them passed on this configuration. I don't doubt it is still selling but not as much as it could have...

I'm curious regards if the 4-disc set (and having to include the original disc and the songs disc) was a legal requirement. While many likely think it's a cynical ploy, it makes sense as some music is unique to the original disc but it does unfortunately make it expensive for those wanting just the two new discs.

I know consumer opinions don't factor into a release, but consider the flipside argument to "Thin Red Line" being too complete (4 vs 2 cds). Some consumers might complain if material was available and not included. The recent PETER PROUD release is an example of that.

How interesting how many people are pooing over the inclusion of the original OST where usually people are singing the praises of including it (hell just look at the Superman thread, don't think a single person has complained about it increasing the cost there).

I don't think that many people are pooing over the 3rd TRL CD... the 4th CD is the "main problem".
I have personally no problem with inclusion of album programs if they were done creatively and are different enough from the "film score presentation" or at least they can be improved in terms of sound quality (no problem with the "old" TRL album and how many potential buyers don't have it already and have zero need for an upgrade?). The problem comes when something completely useless is added for some reason (licensing or otherwise) and increases the price of the set, shipping costs and also import fees for those who have to deal with them.

Obviously different albums have different production costs... if they were priced the same - it would mean that first 3 CDs of Thin Red Line has the same costs as 3CDs of Superman (35 USD) and all the difference in the prices of these two sets is caused by inclusion of the 4th TRL CD, then it is additional 25 USD for 4th CD that is completely useless and has 0 value for probably 90 % of people buying that set.

But we don't know the numbers and who knows how much different the TRL price would be if it were only 2 or 3 CDs.. perhaps the licensing costs for the 4th CD were really, REALLY cheap and didn't affect the price that much and LLL didn't have to alter the price in order to cover their costs. For customers it would be obviously much better in terms of shipping costs, that's the only thing we know for sure.
