How do you know there wasn't a second pressing R/Etailers were autorized to wholesale? You are making assumptions and being a malcontent, you're arguing that just because some decided to order from Amazon and elsewhere they deserve it.

Wow, did this take a turn for the worst.

And has anyone emailed Warner?

The Burton/Elfman site and the general Warner Music site don't have any contact info that I could find, outside of a mailing address and a webmaster e-mail address.

That's why I've decided not to order the box. Either all or nothing. It's like if I miss the first minutes of a movie...I rather miss the whole movie than to watch an uncomplete film.

This just smacks of sour grapes. If you miss the first few minutes of a movie, that is not the fault of the movie. Rather, it is the result of your failure to arrive ahead of time. And it is your loss. The same holds true for the Elfman/Burton box set autographed CD.

In fact, if the second edition is to be believed, it is as if the theater gives you an opportunity to start the movie anew in another auditorium, yet you complain that the moviegoers in the first auditorium got to see trailers before the feature.

date:

Here's Warners email address.

wbr@b3custserv.com

This was definitely bait and switch. Those that e-tailed before the set sold out ordered the limited edition which was do be delivered by the end of December, and did not order the second edition to be delivered in February.

I will email Warner, and you should also.

We may even want to start a list of people.

@AJ

Say what you want but I've made my decision. No bonus disc = incomplete box = no box for me.

it is your loss
Not a loss but a huge money-saving.

Thanks, I e-mailed. Maybe the first run of boxes from Amazon will include the bonus disc, although I'm not hopeful.

Not a loss but a huge money-saving.

And that is the real issue. Many of you just cannot stomach the high price of the Elfman/Burton box. Even if you had known about the autographed CD in advance, many of you still would have vacillated & procrastinated until the box set sold out. Basically, you were not going to get it, regardless. So, if you did not have the cash or were unwilling to plunk it down for this set, accept the personal responsibility for your financial situation and/or indecision.

I can't believe the amount of negativity, I mean it's literally one after another after another. I don't know the reasons for all of this, but I can most likely say, there IS a reason for all of this.

Richard, I won't be surprised if this is your LAST box set as even though it sold out, all the negative responses, for me, would push me to never make another one.

Come on guys were better than this!!

I can semi-understand the perspectives of some of you who feel a little duped, but not entirely.

Like with most releases, whether it's limited or not doesn't really affect my decision to buy it. I ordered it on September 29th... the first night it was up for pre-order. If had been unlimited at the time, I still would have bought it immediately. If the "not limited" set were also a lot cheaper, I could understand people being pissed, but it's the same price. And it does seem that people who ordered early are getting a bonus.

My only disappointment is that it will be a few more months until it's released into the wild, but hey... s*** happens.

I think it's a good thing that there will be more than 1000 of them. If people want it, but didn't act fast enough or have the money to buy it initially, now they'll be able to get it at some point down the line. It will mean that certain resellers won't be able to buy a bunch of them up, and sell them at inflated prices. It _might_ also mean that you can find second hand copies of it in the future for less money.

Now they're sold out and saying that only pre-orders through the WB Shop get the extra disc. How many pre-orders WERE there through the WB Shop, because there most certainly were not 1000 pre-orders or they could not possibly have made it available to other e-tailers.

Here is an alternative possibility. Someone in one of the other Elfman/Burton threads posted that moviemusic.com expected many/all pre orders through resellers to be canceled, as Warner Bros. Records would be unable to meet demand after it had satisfied its own pre orders. And, perhaps, that is nearly what happened. WBR underestimated demand and found itself hit w/ 1000 pre orders. Rather than cancel contracts w/ resellers, WBR decided to fulfill those contracts w/ an unlimited second pressing that lacks the certificate & autographed CD.

@AJ

I'm sure when the box started popping up on Amazon et al, at the time when only the limited box was known about, people purchased there based on the assumption they were getting the same box as WB, just with less customs/shipping issues (there are other countries other than the US).

Now it appears this is not the case, those on Amazon et al will get a 'different' box, minus an additional CD, maybe ?

The issue at point is the lack of clarity. Kraft posts on this site, yet does not wish to address these concerns in the same way Bruce, MV or Lukas would. A simple few words from him will go a long way to resolve all the questions. It's not too much to ask is it ?

Thing is though, he is not a spokesperson for Warner - the other people you listed are spokespeople for their own company. Plus, as has stated many times, he has no part in the marketing of this set at all. He only helped to put it together. What Warner chooses to do and how they do it is nothing at all to do with Richard. It's not his fault that a giant company like Warner have handled this whole release so badly.

When I saw this elephant going for about $100 less on Amazon, that's when I thought something was up. I stayed with WB while many here were jumping ship. So now what do you want?

Well, I jumped ship to Amazon.........

But then I jumped back again after Peter's warning at moviemusic. Glad I did.

You've all been used.
They had no intention of delivering this before February. All they have is a prototype or two.
They raked in the HALF MILLION DOLLARS for the pre-orders first and are only now giving the go-ahead for the production runs, paid with your up front money.
Do you think the bonus CD and its sleeve came out of thin air in the last few days? It was planned ages ago and is simply a device for ensuring orders aren't canceled because of the "delay" and to give those who were duped about it being a 1000 limited edition an appeasing something extra worth two dollars.
