All but two bad season one links are fixed.

So, who's in for a Volume 0?

Sign me up! smile

While the disco-flavored scores by Silvestri are my favorite, I also enjoy John Parker's work on the show, especially when it's akin to the funk in his music for "Cannon".

The Luchi De Jesus episodes, as I said a while back I would cover. Since he didn't do that many, I am breaking them up to draw it out longer. The numbers by each episode title indicate which episode it was.

I'm not handling the Silvestri episodes (I'm presuming some label will do it one day), with the exception of one because it's connected in a way to an episode Luchi De Jesus scored.

"Tight Fit" (2)

  • 1:05 in.
  • 3:26 in.
  • 10:47 in.
  • 12:15 in.
  • 16:12 in.
  • 22:43 in.
  • 25:23 in.
  • 32:32 in.
  • 33:53 in.

That's like 97% of the episode score.

Bobby: "How come you never introduce me to women like that?"
Ponch: "Only when you're ready, Bobby, only when you're ready."

    "Rock Devil Rock" (4)

  • 6:17 in.*
  • 31:39 in.
  • 42:22 in. The disco source music.

If room was short on a set of scoring from the final season, I'd probably leave off the second cue. IT's going to take two, maybe three CD's to handle all the good scoring from both composers though (for this season).

    * = CinemaSins voice: "HAHAHAHAHAHA, NO."

    Continuing SEASON 6:

    "This Year's Riot" (7)

  • 1:04 in.
  • 5:00 in.
  • 6:21 in. continues after
  • 13:08 in.
  • 20:49 in.
  • 41:32 in.

Ponch: "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Latin and we're emotional people."
Captain: "Yeah? Well, I'm Dutch and we're not."

    "Fallout" (10)

  • 1:04 in. (1:40)
  • 22:17 in. With fast bongo action. A little over two minutes long.
  • 29:05 in. And the cue after the commercial break.

While De Jesus is not Silvestri, I'm glad to say I turned out to not be disappointed by his scoring -- I'm enjoying it a lot.

    Continuing SEASON 6:

    "Day of the Robot" (11)

  • 1:07 in.
  • 15:13 in.
  • 29:05 in.

This sophisticated robot looks like a Playskool Alphie II with Rosie the Robot's head on it. Johnny 5 could kick his ass.

If I were CinemaSins, I would be sinning the fuck out of this episode.

    "Hot Date" (12)

  • 1:05 in.

If I were compiling a set of scoring from this season, be it both composers or one just for this composer, I might skip the cue I cited to make room for better material. There's barely any scoring in the episode anyway.

    Continuing SEASON 6:

    "Journey to a Spacecraft" (15)

  • 3:28 in.
  • 13:16/14:33 in.
  • 34:14 in.
  • 35:26 in.
  • 38:45 in. Begins as a non disco cue, a kind of relaxed patriotic march sound for the first minute, then it becomes a kind of laid back breezy version including sax's and a light non disco beat. About three minutes in the cue morphs away from that material and some very light disco touches work their way in.

"Things That Go Creep in the Night" (21)

  • 1:04 in. (1:58)
  • 6:13 in. water chime. (0:30)
  • 7:47 in.
  • 8:49 in. (1:48)
  • 26:16/27:51 in. also includes water chime.
  • 41:01 in. Not terrible involving or complex; might skip it to make room for other cues on an official release.

    Finishing SEASON 6:

This concludes all the episodes Luchi De Jesus scored.

"Return of the Brat Patrol" (22) (series finale)

This was actually like a second episode to an earlier one from the same season, so I decided to cover it below (it's a Silvestri effort).

  • 1:07 in.
  • 14:33 in.
  • 21:17 in.
  • 29:55/39:11 in.
  • 43:47 in.

    Out-of-context quote exchange...
Blonde Girl #1: "Oh, they're coming."
Blonde Girl #2: "Just go fast."

    "Brat Patrol"
    By: Alan Silvestri

  • 6:32 in.
  • 15:33/17:41 in.
  • 33:47 in.
  • 40:34 in. Including repeated use of a seven-note theme heard in a cue on FSM's Volume 1. Almost five minutes long.

So it turns out my worries were completely wrong and I very much look forward to a release of his scoring to the show.

I'm of two minds abut it though: On the one hand a Volume 5 sharing on the discs both composers, would take away room for all his good stuff, but on the other hand a set of scoring just of him, might not have the name draw to sell. I think two (maybe three) CD's would be needed just to cover his scoring.

Coming back here to correct myself. The season one episode "Moving Violation" does feature a score credited to John Parker, and it's good.

Is the Season One main theme available anywhere?

     Posted:   Aug 4, 2023 - 1:39 PM
     By:   Justin Boggan   (Member)

No (As far as I know), but there is a rather faithful re-recording (with a minor change) available on some TV theme compilation.
