SEASON 1:

A 1996 TV series that only last one season. At least it was a full season and then some.

Yet another TV series that goes on the list of "Shouldn't Have Been Cancelled". If you even remotely like "The X-Files", this is for you. If you think you had paranoia from TX-F, just wait until you see this...

I've watched it through all the way two or three times, but I can't say I recall the scoring; diving into this blind. All the episodes were scored by Mark Snow.

As I recall, La La Land Records was looking into it, but found out Disney had it.

"Absolute Zero" (the pilot)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W64ZMyaJsmE

Highlights:
  • 19:48 in.
  • 34:50 in. Shortly after 36:00 in it morphs for a bit into a cue from "The X-Files"; you'll recognize it from The Truth and the Light. Heard again in the next cue below.
  • 40:15 in.
  • 45:41 in.
  • 57:35 in.
  • 1:03:40 in.

The series was released on a nine-disc set, so if you like what you see here, you'll likely want to buy it.

    "Turnabout"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-E1ZG8u8o8

    Highlights:
  • 2:40 in.
  • 4:32 in.

  • 29:23 in.
  • 40:24 in.

  • 11:37 in.
  • 19:38 in.
  • 25:27 in.
  • 34:40 in.
  • 38:23 in.
  • 44:59 in.

    "Something About Her"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gWVmP9Ywzg

  • 40:55 in.
  • 44:18 in.

    "Paradise on Your Doorstep"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rffse1DdsMg

    Highlights:
  • 0:37 in.
  • 4:36 in.
  • 5:40/7:50 in.
  • 10:35 in.
  • 11:33 in. Eerie wordless female aaahhh vocals and synths.
  • 19:22 in.
  • 21:31 in. If I played this for you and didn't tell you where it was from, you'd have said "The X-Files".
  • 27:06 in.
  • 29:30 in.
  • 37:26/38:23 in.
  • 39:05 in.
  • 44:08 in.

Creator Lawrence Hertzog's version of The Village.

Mystery Woman: "You're not going to get away with this."
Tom: "You're not the first person to tell me that."

    "The Spider Webb"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3yaBqBlwnk

Featuring a mysterious business called Allegra Industries. Allegra is also an antihistamine pharmaceutical drug called Fexofenadine, which "was patented in 1979 and came into medical use in 1996". !996 was the year "Nowhere Man" aired. Coincidence? I think not. ;-)

    Highlights:
  • 18:27/22:42 in.
  • 32:15 in.
  • 42:13 in.

    Guest-starring Dean Stockwell.

For the guys here: 27:19 in. you're welcome.

Dr. Richards: "They always find out."

    "Father"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg5czWSZtSU

In-verse it's been six months since the events of the pilot.

So, I can safely say, if you are a fan of his work for "The X-Files", you should check out the scoring here.

The theme alone is amazing. I loved this series.

The theme alone is amazing. I loved this series.

I did, too. In fact I like this score more than X-Files, especially the low keyboard from the later scores. I've been working on getting this out for years, along with Mark. As with DuckTales, Disney TV stuff is tricky but I will keep persisting.

    "The Enemy Within"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orf884TB5O8

    Highlights:
  • 4:05 in.
  • 11:44 in. Kind of reminds me a little bit of that closing cue from "Jose Chung's From Outer Space".
  • 16:27 in.
  • 24:26 in.
  • 30:55 in.

"It's Not Such a Wonderful Life"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbSbkZ0ty6Y

    Highlights:
  • 2:08/3:13 in.
  • 11:00 in.
  • About 14:40 in.
  • 24:27 in. Another cue that if I didn't tell you where it came from, you'd say "The X-Files".
  • 36:30 in.
  • 40:52 in.

    "Contact"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG21ninvUAg

  • 19:50 in.
  • 24:21 in.

    Highlights:

  • 44:00 in.

    "Stay Tuned"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0tJhq_Hsl0

    Highlights:
  • 0:36 in.
  • 21:15 in.
  • 31:39 in.
  • 42:33 in.

The opening narration indicates he's been to other places since the last episode, so more time has passed in-verse.

    "Hidden Agenda"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmWyElLH6K8

    Highlights:
  • 2:34 in.
  • 18:36 in.

  • About 31:10 in.
  • 35:58 in.

Featuring a lovely wistful/tender strings and piano theme for the memories of youth.

Guest-starring Sam Anderson. You've seen the face (he's been in a bunch of things) but probably didn't know the name.
