SEASON 1:
All loads in this thread are in Russian(?) unless otherwise noted. I don't recall having seen an episode of the series before, except some previous skimming to hear scoring. However, the composer roster and years of the show, speaks for itself, so here I go! The series theme is by: Dick DeBenedictis (who also scores episodes, too). He actually is second place in the amount of episodes done, but I couldn't fit his name into the thread title without having no room for "others" or "+"; the only other option was the one I didn't want to do: "Babcock, and others". "Fatal Confession: A Father Dowling Mystery" (1987 TV movie that inspired the series) By: Artie Kane Uncredited scoring: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeKeQ6a_fzY This is the only effort by Kane. Highlights: 1:07 in. 5:24 in. 6:31 in. 9:17 in. 12:34 in. 18:23 in. 26:23 in. Car chase music. 30:47 in. 41:25 in. 45:10 in. 58:20 in. 1:05:54 in. Little FX for about the first minute, then there's more FX and some dialogue when the chase music kicks in. 1:16:54 in. 1:24:18/1:27:43 in. 1:29:37 in. "The Missing Body Mystery" (Part 1 and Part 2) By: Joel Rosenbaum and Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkXzrM4fbro Highlights: 1:05 in. 2:25 in. Including some tense material and car chase music. 7:45 in. 10:27 in. 23:56 in. 25:20 in. 27:20 in. 28:10 in. 32:29 in. 40:30 in. 42:14 in. 44:59/46:25 in. 47:46 in. And the short cue after the commercial break. 50:55 in. 59:51 in. "What Do You Call a Call Girl Mystery" By: Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf1HTnT9OS8 Highlights: 2:34 in. Spirited bicycle racing music. 4:25 in. 7:53 in. 8:49 in. 9:57 in. 12:57 in. 19:37 in. 21:30 in. 26:06 in. 30:42 in. 38:57 in. About two minutes of light playful music. I just eat up nommy stuff like this and on other shows like "Murder, She Wrote". 44:52 in. "The Man Who Came to Dinner Mystery" By: Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ejKsU9wAug Highlights: 1:02 in. Including chase music. 4:27 in. 14:15 in. 16:26 in. 17:59 in. 21:41 in. 25:18 in. 33:36 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 44:26 in.

Finishing SEASON 1:
It was a short season. "The Mafia Priest Mystery" (Part 1 and Part 2) By: Joel Rosenbaum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MoncGTwovs Highlights: About 3:00 in. 9:38 in. 12:05 in. 14:36 in. 18:47 in. 43:55 in. Including some brief action music. 55:28 in. 1:05:15 in. 1:07:41 in. 1:14:16 in. 1:25:40 in. 1:32:42 in. "The Face in the Mirror Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis & Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPlL1WxGYJE Highlights: 1:03 in. 4:11 in. 8:45 in. 12:12 in. 24:05 in. 30:14 in. 35:25/22:10 in. 37:12 in. 39:34 in. 43:30 in. 10:28 in: They actually needed, after she called out "Frank", the Russian female to overdub in a Russian voice, "Frank". "The Pretty Baby Mystery" By: Joel Rosenbaum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BbdUe8-55E Highlights: 1:17 in. 5:07 in. 12:01 in. 20:38 in. 27:51 in. 32:50 in. 44:06 in.

SEASON 2:
Season two was also short -- only thirteen episodes. "The Visiting Priest Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MyDhbGDEhw Highlights: 1:15 in. 18:16 in. 22:44 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 29:02/32:05 in. About 37:10/40:07/40:51 in. (44:32) "The Exotic Dancer Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEb7bxq0dEU Highlights: 6:06/8:46 in. 19:45 in. 22:22 in. 42:31 in. There's little scoring in the episode, as good portions take place in an strip club with hte mot clothed strippers I've ever seen. "The Sanctuary Mystery" By: Joel Rosenbaum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJI12gcQtd8 Highlights: 7:33 in. 21:06 in. 31:19 in. 40:19 in. 44:39 in. "The Stone Killer Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVl4Njvvfxc Highlights: 1:16 in. 8:36/9:45 in. Upbeat bowling music using the series theme. 19:05 in. 25:45 in. 34:24 in. 40:59 in. 45:09 in. "The Woman Scorned Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFdhvHpfAyM Highlights: 8:53 in. 13:13 in. 22:12 in. 36:14 in. 42:50 in. "The Ghost of a Chance Mystery" By: Joel Rosenbaum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr3ewPoKXEM Highlights: 4:58 in. 38:07 in.* If I were compiling a set of season two scoring, I'd only include the first cue. Obviously I'd skip the rest of the episode score. * = The ghost machine layout sounds like the Enterprise bridge (no bloody A, B, C, or D; and especially no bloody NX) "The Blind Man's Bluff Mystery" By: Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV9lY2fyO9o (minus the opening credits) Highlights: 0:00 in. 2:29 in. 6:31 in. 15:56 in. 19:26/22:25 in. 35:17 in. 40:51 in. Short piano piece. Guest-starring Gianni Russo, who was in the second "The Godfather" film. Funny his name should come up; just about a month ago I listened to an hour long interview he did on the Brian Kilmeade radio show. Promoting his book Hollywood Godfather: Life in the Movies and the Mob, he told many kinds of stories on how he worked for the mob in real life, had a relations with Marilyn Monroe, was there was one mob boss told then not President John Kennedy "You're dead", and Hollywood stories. I heard it in December, but I can't seem to locate a podcast. "The Falling Angel Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvamGaFC5Nc Highlights: 1:13 in. About a minute of lovely score-only string work. 27:33 in. 40:40 in. 42:13 in. "The Perfect Couple Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis & Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBwAhlLx0nk Highlights: 2:19 in. 3:20 in. Just over three minutes long and only light FX. 12:52 in. 21:45 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 24:51 in. 28:58 in. 31:22 in. 34:51 in. "The Confidence Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis and Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-uAWnP3_n8 Highlights: 1:17 in. 12:55/14:06 in. 26:06/27:29 in. Percussion, lower octave piano, and low brass open this cue. 30:26 in. 42:30 in. Over two minutes of chase music. "The Solid Gold Headache Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKOH1Q--yDI Highlights: 1:14 in. Just a joy to listen to; I can't say it enough: Babcock is a talented composer. 4:01 in. 7:47 in. 11:10 in. 14:50 in. 15:53 in. 18:33 in. 19:51 in. 25:23 in. Country-flavored 18-wheeler training music. About 28:48 in. 31:33 in. 33:36 in. 37:52 in. 44:36 in. That's all but seven cues. "The Legacy Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLd2Xv72C0I Highlights: 1:14 in. Melodramatic piano and solo violin cue. Almost a minute long. 8:25 in. 10:31 in. 23:23 in. 26:28 in. 33:47 in. 42:50 in. 44:21 in. I have to say, Father Dowling is wonderfully played by the late Tom Bosley (who died in 2010); he looks like a father of a church, is believable when he heads scriptures and is quite engaging. Can you imagine a Father Dowling/Columbo/Matlock crossover? "The Passionate Painter Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis and Arthur Kempel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a39-pYOFkS0 Highlights: 1:15 in. 12:44 in. 16:49 in. 19:37 in. 24:07 in. 35:42 in. 39:03 in. 41:46 in.

SEASON 3:
This is half of season three. "The Royal Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJtUFdesCw4 Highlights: 1:16 in. 11:20 in. 12:42 in. 19:14 in. 24:35 in. 37:22 in. 40:30 in. 42:30 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 45:04 in. "The Medical Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aVM2A380IQ Highlights: 1:13 in. 6:32 in. 8:55 in. 15:18 in. 18:25 in. 22:08 in. 25:24 in. 27:38 in.* 32:57 in. 34:00 in. 40:35 in. 43:10 in. Short, simple, but nice. * = Finally! A doctor in an episode of a TV series who recognizes somebody as not working there. I'm not saying it's outside the realm of possibility you can not recognize everybody in a hospital floor you work on, but it's unlikely. I have a weird story to tell in this regard. A few weeks ago somebody told me about how several years ago one of the two large hospitals here had to wind up paying to a security guard to patrol the building because somebody was living in an area of the hospital, using the bathroom and cleaning up there, too. Nobody noticed for years. Somebody would sometimes inquire with him and he'd say he was waiting for somebody. It paid off for years. (3:18) "The Devil & the Deep Blue Sea Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIoIK8VEzIE Highlights: 1:13 in. 6:01 in.* 25:13 in. 26:09 in. Three minutes long, with a lot of chase music. 30:00 in. So, when they walk into a bathroom together to take a piss, do they nod to each other before entering, nod before pulling the zipper down, and nod before pissing? Just askin'. "The Showgirl Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jgrur7Vh_TI Highlights: 7:20 in. 9:57 in. 21:21 in. 24:21 in. 25:05 in. 33:06 in. 34:13 in. 37:49 in. 40:25 in. 42:36 in. And the cue after the commercial break. "The Movie Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPP_D2RPj7I Highlights: 22:40 in. 27:27 in. 28:50 in. "The Undercover Nun Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM5AV2JMKl0 Highlights: 1:15 in. 15:20 in. 22:25 in. 24:27 in. 28:29 in. 31:55 in. 39:17/39:59 in. "The Murder Weekend Mystery" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw34G4z9L44 Highlights: 1:15 in. 15:15 in. 27:10 in. 42:40 in. "The Reasonable Doubt Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNKxX8mSB6Q Highlights: 1:16 in. 8:53 in. 9:36/12:37 in. 22:19 in. 27:09 in. 30:09 in. 34:15/37:25 in. Lolita Ritmanis is listed as a composer on BMI and/or ASCAP; normally I bring this up when done with a show, but this is the second episode I have seen so far where I think she contributed simply because I hear "Batman: The Animated Series". I think the other episode was also a Babcock-scored one. "The Vanishing Victim Mystery" By: Peter T. Meyers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi2C0-Tt9x0 Highlights: 1:16 in. 7:45 in. 9:37 in. 25:00 in. 30:11 in.* 31:33 in. 34:40 in. 37:00 in. 38:29 in.+ * = Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes a thousand times yes. + = Holy fuck, I think that big wooden palette hit the actor! That had to have fucking hurt big time! "The Christmas Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2QMIWnF7go Highlights: 1:15 in. 6:44 in. 10:07 in. 12:30 in. 16:16 in. 21:04 in. 23:00 in. 34:00 in. 37:12 in. 38:16 in. 39:20 in. 41:40 in. 43:12 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 44:19 in. There is a cue in a montage suite from the show on Babcock's Orchestral Music for Film promo, titled "Christmas Morning", so I assume it's from this episode. I do not have the promo handy. It's very likely the first cue I cited, but that doesn't take place during Christmas morning, in fact, the whole episode takes place on Christmas Eve. Just an improperly-named cue. I highly advise anybody here seek out the promo; fantastic television work and a symphony piece that's fantastic (he said in an interview he got in trouble for including it without permission from the orchestra). "The Fugitive Priest Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj6vrqvBHDQ Highlights: 1:14 in. 3:25 in. 11:21 in. 17:35 in. 26:31 in. 39:25 in. 41:22 in. LOL, if you really think about it, Regina Krueger had the easiest paycheck ever: Just show up at the end of the episode and yell "Freeze!" or some such thing, then stand there with the firearm drawn and not say anything else. For twenty-eight episodes. "The Substitute Sister Mystery" By: Bruce Babcock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSkdxTg62g4 Highlights: 1:15 in. 2:44 in. 6:36 in. 10:18 in. 12:35 in. About 17:35 in. 18:39 in. 20:35 in. 26:06 in. 29:53 in. 31:38 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 34:09 in.* 36:27 in.* 39:56 in.* 41:18 in. * = That Orchestral Music for Film promo has a cue titled "Priestly Termite Inspector"; this is the only episode. These are the only cues it could be
