SEASON 2:
Only season two is available at this time. The show, with the exception of two one-off composers, was made up almost completely of "Dynasty" composers. The theme, also by Bill Conti, opens the same way as "Dynasty" but them goes into its own thing. Multiple characters from "Dynasty" made appearances. Some characters from this show crossed over into "Dynasty" or made appearances. This was the only spin-off show from "Dynasty", though the Aaron Spelling series "Hotel" was intended as a spin-off, with Fallon going over to that show and presumably running the hotel (as in "Dynasty" she gets bored with her life and Blake gives her a hotel to run, probably as a lead in to this series). However, Pamela Sue Martin didn't want to do it. Reading about why she left the show, it seems the reasons -- and there are others -- was two or three: She was bored with "Dynasty", she was hard to work with, and she had a drug and/or alcohol problem. I assume that had she done the series, Conti might have done the theme and it might have opened with the "Dynasty" opening piece. (the "Hotel" theme was ultimately done by Henry Mancini) I'd love to do "Hotel" at some point, but I don't have any plans right now to do so. NEW DRINKING GAME: Every time Ricardo Montalban says some word in a weird/interesting way, take a drink. "The Gathering Storm" By: Dennis McCarthy Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3M-SwXCYAI Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm3p7gKH5H8 Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwGEP2uaUzI Part 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkunZZUgQp8 Part 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CREIPEZJAqE Highlights: Part 1: 0:00 in. 3:40 in. Brief statement of the theme. Part 3: 0:00 in. 6:38 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 9:39 in. Continued in Part 4. Part 4: 7:45 in. McCarthy could have been doing stuff like this for season eight of "Dynasty" if they hadn't slashed the budget! Part 5: 0:00 in. 0:30 in. 5:22 in. 6:33 in. For the guys here: 5:15 in (Part 3). You're welcome. "No Exit" By: Ken Harrison Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG6Dd5AiUMA Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4YAGeV-WQw Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzo1RJJGFOk Part 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC6PRuTLYSI Part 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6l-Q7xEu9c Highlights: Part 1: 3:26 in. 6:15 in. 7:33 in. Oh, man! Remember when TV scoring could sound like this?! 4:32 in. Joining a cue already in progress. Featuring a theremin. 7:29 in. Part 2: 1:58 in. 4:00 in. Part 3: 0:00 in. 2:36 in. 4:18 in. 5:39 in. 9:20 in. Part 4: 0:00 in. 4:38 in. 6:49 in. 7:55 in. Part 5: 0:00 in. 0:44 in. 2:35 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 4:22 in. This score was not nominated for an Emmy or any other award! In fact, no scores from this show were. I haven't heard the Emmy winner from 1986 (covered in the Dynasty" thread), but I want to crown this one the winner. I know I didn't say it in the "Dynasty" thread, but I'll say it here: the complete score should be released! In fact, I may have cited 99% of the episode score anyway. Joining a cue already in progress. 6:32 in. 7:24 in. Part 2: 0:00/1:40 in. 5:15 in. 7:28 in. Part 3: 1:55 in. 3:37 in. 7:41 in. 9:07 in. Part 4: 0:00 in. 4:48 in.. Part 5: 2:30 in. 5:43 in. Davis Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r57in38IkPo Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSYdVHgwhGg Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHN6tJMlY78 Part 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ2H6wMmQLU Part 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6od3GRSxqLQ Highlights: Part 1: 0:28. 3:04. "The Gala" By: Ken Harrison Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH-XYLfYmPc Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m2Y1Qn1M0s Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13QiGFqCOCM Part 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjW3St2piPs Part 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-SaKDVJcjI Highlights: Part 1: 3:48 in. Joining a cue already in progress. Part 2: 2:08 in. Part 3: 0:05 in. Part 4: 4:48 in. 9:32 in. Could have come out of a "MacGyver" episode. Part 5: 1:45 in. 5:38 in. 7:19 in. So, how to describe the scoring of the show? I think sumptuous, lush, theme-driven, elegant, beautiful, is a good way.

SEASON 1:
Proper full loads of season one are ow up. Please disregard and earlier post with broken up edited links (unless at some point I have to say that this new channel is deleted). "The Celebration" By: Peter T. Meyers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3olrEooV8A Highlights: About 1:40 in. 3:26 in. 9:38 in. 15:40 in. 16:55 in. 18:26 in. 23:50 in. About 28:00 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 29:18 in. 32:15 in. 34:50 in. 36:47 in. 45:50 in. For the guys here: 36:57 in. You're welcome. Try to contain yourself. "Conspiracy of Silence" By: Angela Morley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBcn0V9vL1c Highlights: About 9:05 in. About 12:40 in. And that short cue after the commercial break. About 16:10 in. 17:54 in. 28:15 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 33:25 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 40:45 in. 42:27 in. About 45:10 in. As pleasant and professionally crafted as the score is, I'm not sure how much -- if anything -- I'd include on a set of season one scoring. (NTM: 37:37) "Moment of Truth" By: Duane Tatro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Knja3kwpqA4 This is the only effort for the series by Tatro. Highlights: 3:12 in. 12:18 in. 22:05 in. 27:55 in.* 35:43 in. 38:18 in. 41:09 in.* I'm not sure how much of this I'd include on a set of season one scoring. Certainly any highlight marked with an asterix. For the guys here: 9:45 in. You're welcome. "Last time, on Dynasty Two..." (yeah, they apparently waffled on the name of the show) "The Family Album" By: Peter T. Meyers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl8IrdxAhd0 Highlights: 3:25 in.* 9:50 in. 15:02 in. 23:18 in. 24:38 in. 29:11 in. 34:54 in. 44:08 in. There's a brief lull and the continues. * = You know, Jeff looking through the photo album brings up two things in my mind: He's looking at old photos, so that should be the original actress who played Fallon. Just sayin'. And two: When do they ever have time to take photos? Aside from press op's, when does that ever happen? They're constantly going from one dramatic conversation/situation to another, and then a car crash. "Shadow of the Past" By: Dennis McCarthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UfMiYtIWKw Highlights: 3:22 in. 9:24 in. 13:14 in. Around 18:00 in. 21:08 in. 23:35 in. Exciting horse chase music (for about the first two minutes of the cue). 26:50 in. 35:47 in. 38:14 in. 46:15 in. "A House Divided" By: Angela Morley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6Sl7LxcEng Highlights: 0:00 in. 3:30 in. 5:21 in. 7:26 in. About 20:15 in. 25:22 in. 27:29 in. About 31:30 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 41:12 in. For the guys here: 34:39 in. You're welcome. And 44:50 in. As annoying as I find Sable, she's got some serious boobs going on. Pitch Meeting Guy: "Oh, false rape memories to mislead people into continuing to tune in are tight." "The Reunion" By: Dennis McCarthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHC6-oQDPRE (audio is slightly out-of-sync) Highlights: 3:42 in. 15:30 in. 16:38 in. Legs ahoy. 22:13 in. 24:59 in. 37:27 in. About 42:22 in. 47:00 in. Joining a cue already in progress.* (NTM: 33:04, 36:08) * = CinemaSins voice: "Tommy, how's the peeping?" "Fallen Idol" By: Peter T. Meyers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gNyTwmn5bM Highlights: 3:07 in. 4:40 in. 8:28 in. 16:16 in. 20:29 in. 25:42 in. 41:48 in. (NTM: 14:15, 25:25 / 44:50)

Continuing SEASON 1:
Sorry, I forgot to mention that you may sometimes see something at the end of an episode like: (NTM: 10:13) Those mean "Note to me", so please disregard. For those who just gotta know why I make those notes to myself, they're usually just notes of small bits of scoring I might include in a suite later on, or gifs or screen grabs I might make. There is no big secret where you decode it and it tells you to drink more Ovaltine. Or is there? MUWHAHAHAHA. "The Letter" By: Dennis McCarthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mypVzXh8EDA Highlights: 3:23 in. 9:59 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 13:57 in. 15:34 in. 23:55 in. 29:16 in. 44:00 in. Joining a cue already in progress. To the end of the episode. 38:20 in: His dramatic head turn reminds me of this: (NTM: 13:12) "The Turning Point" By: Dennis McCarthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1MPrq7ZEHA Highlights: 3:22 in. 8:35 in. 14:19 in. 17:54 in. 21:44 in. 23:30 in. 25:09 in. 30:10 in. 36:17 in. 37:05 in. "The Pact" By: Ben Lanzarone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn-F2fIe5Do This is Lanzarone's only effort for the series. There are no further one-off composers on the series. Highlights: 3:15 in. Lanzarone makes sure to go grand and show off for the opening cue. 17:01 in. Joining a cue already in progress for that brief bit of borderline cool. 18:18 in. 20:46 in. 22:35 in. Joining a cue already in progress for the somber string work. And the short cue after the commercial break. 26:05 in. 34:54 in. 38:40 in. The club source music. (NTM: 32:20) "Fallon's Choice" By: John E. Davis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwvL46jhQik Highlights: 3:08 in. 11:12 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 17:47 in. 23:00 in. 24:52 in. 27:46 in. Angry car driving music, with a driving rhythm reminiscent of "North By Northwest". 39:23 in. 45:00 in. Continuing SEASON 1:
"Burden of Proof" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc5e_zcYQ-A Highlights: 2:58 in. 4:35 in. 9:40 in. 16:29 in. 22:20 in. 26:10 in. 29:08 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 38:20 in. 41:18 in. 44:05 in. Including some fight. "You're reputation comes into a room ten minutes before you do." (NTM: 15:57, 15:38, 24:24) "My Father's House" By: Peter T. Meyers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uNvtsfJvCg Highlights: 3:12 in. 18:38 in. 26:52 in. 32:10 in. 41:50 in. 44:33 in. 46:17 in. On a set of season one scoring, I'm not sure how much of this I would include. Certainly I'd include the first highlight. (NTM: 15:47) "The Outcast" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjveaO_UeOY Highlights: 3:25 in. 17:27 in. 21:33 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 25:28 in.* And the romantic cue after the commercial break. 33:55 in. And the party source music after the commercial break. 40:19 in. 45:07 in. * = CinemaSins voice: "Tommy, how's the ease droppin'?" Sable: "Ease dropping, Connie? Maybe we should get the key holes raised to eye level; it would be easier on your back." Jason: "I'm an art collector; I'm expected to admire beautiful things." (to Sable) "The Wedding" By: Peter T. Meyers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_X6OQzSSQU Highlights: 3:21 in. 9:44 in. 15:25 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 24:07/33:13 in. Fuck yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Around 25:30 in. 28:11 in. About 35:00 in. Just like Meyers pulled off fantastic wedding music in an episode of "Dynasty", he manages to do it again. To the end of the episode. I waited and waited for men with guns or a bomb or something. It is a soap wedding, after all. For the guys here: 6:50 in. You're welcome. "The Honeymoon" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWW-NGo6IIA Highlights: 3:01 in. 6:02 in. 11:21 in. 18:59 in. 19:59 in. 24:01 in. 28:40 in. 31:05 in. 36:02 in. 39:54 in. 46:47 in. (NTM: 35:40)

Finishing SEASON 1:
"Double Jeopardy" By: Dennis McCarthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OukL0mCOPf0 Highlights: 3:20 in. 5:41 in. 8:31 in. 14:24 in. 18:05 in. 26:24 in. 30:44 in. 32:02 in. 33:43 in. 38:36 in. (NTM: 47:08) "A Family Affair" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSRAsINM2IY Highlights: 3:02 in. 5:11 in. 14:39 in. 16:04 in. 17:37 in. Sorry, but if you listen to this cue you're going to have to cringe at the dialogue. Not as bad as George Lucas SW prequel dialogue, but still... 21:14 in. 23:00 in. 36:03 in. 36:44 in. 42:25 in. 45:15 in. How to look like you are acting: Squirm around and look like you're slowly pooping your pants in small spurts. (NTM: 47:22) "I must be loosing my hearing; I could have sworn you said something nice." Out-of-context quote... "There's room for two..." "The Reckoning" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Kwmvm7u43s Highlights: 3:27 in. 8:40 in. 11:10 in. Joining a cue already in progress for the ethnic material. 16:20 in. 20:47 in. 24:04 in. 26:37 in. 29:59 in. 32:22 in. 37:07 in. 45:25 in. Why do we have to freeze frame on him when he looks like he just unexpectedly shit his pants? (NTM: 44:08) "Anniversary Waltz" By: Dennis McCarthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho4jV4Hm7Qc Highlights: 3:16 in. 6:35 in. 14:14 in. 17:30 in. 19:09 in. 20:35 in. 22:00 in. 32:19 in. And the lovely somber party source music that immediately follows it. 37:02 in. 39:37 in. To the end of the episode; almost ten minutes long. (NTM: 16:44) Out-of-context quotes... "I've got something for you..." "I'm not hungry, but I sure am curious." "Checkmate" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GazqY2Wg4bo Highlights: 2:49 in. Good stuff, but it doesn't go with what's going on on-screen until well over a minute in. 10:08 in. 22:11 in. 25:11 in. About 28:40 in. Well, they've upgraded from emotionally unstable driving to emotionally unstable flying. 33:07 in. 34:40 in. 35:57 in. 41:00 in. 43:43 in. 46:29 in.* I must say I like the old scheming lady and her battles with Sable. * = Geez, Alexis' sister is just as horrible as Alexis. And that concludes the series. Only two seasons. I guess the ratings must have been low for it, 'cause from what I see, it's not any worse than "Dynasty". Many times it's better. I'll probably go back and do new highlights for the unedited season two loads. There has been no release of any of the scoring from the series (official, promo, bootleg) -- not even samples.
