Hearing the dark theme while he's riding a motorcycle fast, just works wonderfully. 8:02 in. In a 1997 Starlog interview And what about the Dark Skies pilot? That was really kind of a disaster," Snow admits. "I did the pilot and I thought it was a TV movie, that's all. Then suddenly, it became a pilot. Chris came over one day and he saw Dark Skies written down some place, and he had a small fit. He said. "You can't do this. It's terrible and it's a rip-off of The X-Files, and it's going to cheapen you and make us look bad." The Fox people didn't like the idea. In the end, NBC didn't like most of my music, so they just threw it out. They rescored the pilot and someone else is doing the music. It was a mistake to take the project, but it all worked out in the long run.
(https://archive.org/stream/starlog_magazine-237/starlog_237_djvu.txt) I assumed Carter was referring to the music style that Snow used, since he mentioned NBC didn't like the music. I bring this up, 'cause apparently nobody complained when a year before "The X-Files" even aired, there was Snow already into his X-Files sound with "Dark Justice". I don't know precisely when the sound started, but it was at least a little before Carter's show. By the way, Perseverance Records released a CD of scoring form the show, including what I assume were only selections from Snow's un-used score for the pilot. I assume since it was a TV movie, it had more score. The CD is still available. The un-used pilot score sounds like his early work on "The X-Files". On a side note: Snow had a weird thing for picking titled with the word "Dark" in them, including three TV shows ("Dark Justice", "Dark Realm", and of course "Dark Skies"). There are no promos (that I can find) or any samples on any websites. The theme to the series was released on the compilation The Snow Files. 3.18: https://ok.ru/video/7846179900045

ADDITIONAL/UNCREDITED/STOCK MUSIC COMPOSERS:
Culled from ASCAP and BMI. In no special order. Naturally I assume, being tied up with "The X-Files", Snow only continued into part of (or all of) season two. And since there are no episodes from season two or three up, I have to assume some of these composers are episodic composers and not just uncredited contributors. Ashley Irwin (also listed with Brian May) (lists on his site "10 x 1 hour", which I take to mean to scored ten episodes). Daniel Denholm. (Denholm says on his personal website he did two episodes; for soem reason he's scrubbed most references to the show from his site recently) Peter Chambers (listed with Irwin). Jeff Freilich. (also listed seperately) Martyn Irwin. Clinton Holmes and Glenn Jordan )Jordan is alos listed seperately). Fred Mollin. (I think I read that season three really went down hill; I suspect they couldn't get Snow anymore, especially being tied up on "The X-Files", and that Mollin scored the whole thing) Gary S. Scott. Wow. Dark Justice. My roommate at the end of my college years became one of the show's writer-producers, and directed two episodes (including one starring an unknown John Hawkes). My UCLA friend Shane Black (yes, that Shane Black) was a guest villain in a few episodes. And I first met the late Kevin Gilbert when he was an 18-year-old UCLA student and became the accompanist for a musical I helped write (during performances, Kevin could perform the entire score on piano without sheet music; he was an impressive young man). And it also featured Carrie-Anne Moss in a recurring role, but I can't claim any personal connection there.

That's pretty cool. Can you whack Shane one for me for making that kind of Predatorp film? He's earned it. ;-) I think Gilbert was the one who I forgot to make a special note how well a scene was scored. I don't recall the episode, but who guys were watching a house and in a window where we only saw the silhouettes of a woman struggling with a man, the off kilter piano work I thought worked wonderfully -- perfectly scored I would say.

Added new links for all covered episodes that are all in one load and not the old broken up into multiple parts loads.
