SEASON 1:

A short-lived 1967 series. Only seventeen episodes.

If I don't mention an episode, that means it has no credited composer.

As there are so few episodes scores, I will open this post with just one, to draw the thread out and bring the music to the attention of others.

The series main theme is by Leith Stevens.



"Sabers in the Sun" (series premiere)

    I remember this well although supposedly this show was one of the main reasons Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel only lasted one season--Custer was an incoming exec's pet project and TT was dropped to make room for Custer, which couldn't even make it past half a season...

    Even though I didn't cite any of it because it's just drumming (from these last two episodes), I love Stevens Indian drumming music. I just like the simple ideas and the drums used. Just works for me.

    The series debuted on ABC-TV on 6 September 1967, but only lasted until December of that year before it was cancelled. Twentieth Century Fox took the 52-minute pilot episode, added footage from another episode of the series, and turned it into a 90-minute feature entitled THE LEGEND OF CUSTER, which began playing overseas in the summer of 1968.
