SEASON 1:

A short-lived 1977 series.

Attention readers: I have been implementing a new system that is nothing more than a note to myself; for cues that I want to include in a suite one day, for now on I will denote them with ^ symbol. It has no special meaning to anyone else but myself. No, the lack of an up arrow symbol doesn't mean the cue is bad (it just may have too much SFX or FX for suite use or just isn't worth my time to edit and include). Hence forth this system will be in all future threads and pre-exiting threads that I go back to for missed episodes. Anything in ( ) are just notes to the arrow and you need not bother with that.

In 2010, Universal Music France released a compilation of works by Delerue, and included the score. Running about twenty-four minutes long, it's presumably most, if not all, of the score to the two-parter.

His Cousteau Odyssey theme is my favorite TV theme ever.

Cousteau made so many TV series it can get a bit confusing. The series you are concerned with in this thread,
"L'odyssée sous-marine de l'équipe Cousteau/The Cousteau Odyssey" aired from 1977-1982. This was his second major series. TV markets in various countries aired the episodes at various times and sometimes out of order. The series was a French/U.S. co-production with Germany and Greece as occasional co-producers.

As you know, Elmer Bernstein wrote the series theme.

Also "The Mississippi" by Paul Chihara is not part of the Cousteau Odyssey series. This was done much later in 1985 (not in 1977 as stated on the Chihara CD).

ADDITIONAL, UNCREDITED, STOCK MUSIC COMPOSERS:

There were no additional composers on either BMI or ASCAP. In fact, one of them only listed Bernstein.

There was one release of scoring, as noted in the Delerue entries.
